Generally, more severe cases of lymphedema require a higher-class sleeve, while milder cases require a lower class. 15-20 mmHg — are for the mildest cases. Your lymphedema therapist can help you determine what level of pressure is right for you. Over time, you may find that you need to move to a higher-pressure or lower-pressure sleeve, depending on how your symptoms respond.

How To Measure

When to Take Measurements:  It is important that the edema is at its most reduced state.  Most often this is found first thing in the morning or at the end of treatment.

How to Take Length Measurements:  Limbs should be measured next to bare skin. Length measurements should be taken at each circumference.   It is recommended that you mark the arm with a non-permanent, non-toxic marker at each circumference measurement made.  Measurements should be taken by pulling the tape snugly around the limb but without constriction.
